Sometimes in life, all you can do is put one foot in front of the other.
Raynor Winn, the author of ‘The Salt Path’, took this old adage literally. In a time of great crisis, finding herself homeless and with her husband struck down by terminal illness, the couple decided to walk the South West Coastal Path – a 600 mile trip.

Wild camping, her ‘home’ shrank to the confines of a small, green tent – or perhaps it expanded to include the whole of the ruggedly beautiful Devon and Cornwall coastline.
‘The Salt Path’ is a wonderful recounting of that epic trip. Passing through many of the locations of my own childhood, its interrogation of the idea of home had added poignancy for me.
